Abstract
Traditional methods of water supply and storage have been of interest to people in different regions especially desert areas since ancient times, so that they have become important and vital structures in these areas. In this study, some traditional methods of water supply and storage in Kerman province were investigated in the field. In this study, the study of the resources and research background in the world, the country and Kerman province, the convergence and exchange of information of the regions with experts in the field of natural resources and watershed management, the completion of questionnaires from experts and natives of the region, the use of data and resources from the water history of Kerman province located in the library of cultural heritage and Kermanology, field research, and the completion of questionnaires and visits, surveys, preparation of documentaries of films, photos and datawere discussed. Then, the defects and possible weaknesses of traditional water conservation methods were identified and ways to correct or eliminate them through the use of new techniques and facilities were discussed. The results of the research showed that the traditional methods of water conservation in Kerman province include dam structures, water storage pools, darband structure, keshband structure, aqueducts and water storage ditches in the heights, the most important and widely used of these methods in Kerman province are aqueducts and pools, and other structures are of secondary importance. The results of the research also showed that water storage pools in Kerman province for water storage and productivity are 3000 years old, including Hossein Abad Pool, Divooni Pool, which has also been registered as a cultural heritage.
