In this paper, the potential of TerraSAR-X InSAR time-series for monitoring creeping slopes and landslides in mountainous environment is evaluated. The study area is the Doroud region in the Lorestan province, western Iran. The Doroud region is one of the most susceptible regions to landslide in the Lorestan province. Infrastructures like road and railway stand on the foot of slopes. The Doroud city is also located at the foot of one slope. Hence, it’s so important to monitor deformations on these slopes. 17 TerraSAR-X images acquired in an ascending orbit between January and November 2010 were analyzed using Small Baseline (SBAS) interferometry in order to assess the spatio-temporal evolution of mass movement in Doroud. The results showed that the application of TerraSAR-X data to monitor creep deformation in the mountainous regions of Doroud was successful. Detected persistent pixels are homogenous and have high spatial density in urban and non-urban regions. Small baseline time-series results indicate creeping rate, measured in the line-of-sight (LOS) from satellite to ground, of about 50 mm/year on the Pagij slope to the north of Doroud and of 15 mm/year on the Babahor slope to the south of Doroud.
